United Congregational Christian Church is an open and affirming congregation welcoming and respecting all people, including those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender. We are an open-minded, warm-hearted community in the progressive theological tradition. We embrace the Disciple motto, “A movement for wholeness in a fragmented world” and the UCC motto, “Our faith is two thousand years old, but our thinking is not.”
We value contemporary biblical scholarship, scientific research and insights from the social sciences as we apply enduring truths to our own personal, societal and global issues.
Our congregation is affiliated with both the United Church of Christ (UCC) and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Through our UCC and Disciple networks, we contribute to and prayerfully support programs to end global poverty, promote peaceful resolution of conflict, combat racism, and assist victims of oppression and disaster. Our Regional Offices include, Northern California Nevada Conference of the UCC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Northern California-Nevada.
Locally we support the work of Betty Chinn, Food for People, PFLAG, The Raven Project, and Pride Day. We raise our voices for the needs of the homeless, those with mental health challenges or in recovery, and others whose dignity and worth are not being recognized.
In our community, questions are welcome, different views are accepted and all are encouraged to continue their individual faith journeys. Together we celebrate a God who is still speaking and affirm that we agree to differ, resolve to love and unite to serve.
We enjoy welcoming newcomers to join us for fellowship following worship and to participate in picnics, potlucks and special events.
