Our Interfaith Zen meditation group is held on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. We practice a method of meditation developed by Zen Masters David Parks, John Tarrant, and the teachers of the Pacific Zen Institute. We meditate on Zen koans or Christ’s parables, which, through practice, can speak to our core, not our minds. Meditation is more than being calm and relaxed, it is meeting yourself on the road.
With practice, it becomes evident that joy, love, happiness, and peace are not the result of external objects with which they are usually associated, such as sunsets, vacations, perfect jobs, dream lovers. In fact, joy, love, happiness, and peace are labels we associate with being present. We might even say that whenever we are HERE, whatever the external circumstances, we feel joy, love, peace, kindness, happiness, and compassion.Ashwini Narayanan
The meditation practice is open to the community.
