Social Justice & Outreach Team

The Social Justice & Outreach Team takes on pertinent justice issues that affect our local, national and global communities. We strive for justice through prayer, advocacy and action. This group identifies areas where justice is lacking in our communities and in the world and invites all of us to take a stand for those whose voices are not heard and to make a positive difference in the lives of those who are persecuted and forgotten.

Locally, we provide ongoing support to the TAY Center and Centro del Pueblo and run our own Little Food Pantry. We also collaborate with other faith and social action groups in order to amplify our voices and the power of our actions. We raise our voices for the needs of the homeless, those with mental health challenges or in recovery, and others whose dignity and worth are not being recognized. And, since so many social justice issues are intersectional, our work may include environmental, peace, racial justice, LGBTQIA, civil rights and immigrant rights issues.

This ministry informs the congregation of actionable steps we can take as a unified people to do the most good for those suffering and left vulnerable by unjust circumstances. Our ministry endeavors to bring society forward in unison with God’s vision:

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12

All of our ministries are open to new faces and ideas. We encourage you to participate! We currently meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Please contact Linda Shapeero at shap28@gmail.com for more information.
